Meet our Main Teammates

Captain and Center
Dominic “ Lion” Rivera
The titled 'Pride' of the Lions. Dominic's the star and center of the team as he is the son of a senior hockey player, Kwame Rivera. Dominic is the most mature of the team and takes it to heart when things don't work out the way it's suppose to with his team. Becoming the center and captain was practically given to him without him really putting the effort into it, much to his own annoyance. Despite all, Dominic is a man that strives to prove he is more than the son of a Rivera. Admittedly, the pressure that comes with being the captain Is making this....difficult, especially with his parents.

Right Defense
Royal “Viper" Ryu-Malone
Royal is the teams canon that always has his fuse lit. Royals lack of hesitation is what got him placed on the team with no fear to knock anyone down with his size. Hockey was never Royal's first choice in sports or even a career. Before he joined, he already had a cage fighting career, which he took great pride in and enjoyed, whether for the money or just to beat someone up. However, an argument with his father pushed him to find a more "Safe" career, mostly as a cover up for his first one. Royal is Dominic's right hand that's always ready to back him up, he will never admit it's because he care.

Goalie
Leon “Sparky” Sullivan
A farm boy through and through with a silly personality to match the face. Leon started off as the teams mascot way before anyone else joined. Leon's cheerful personality made great for fan attraction as he would interact with the fans through games, earning more of them. It would be a mascot competition before his talents were really noticed and he was asked to try out for the team. No surprise he got the position, though, no one believed he was the mascot until someone new was hired for the team and they just couldn't match the energy that Leon had. Currently, Leon's an absolute menace on the ice as he would mock the opponents, not take the game seriously yet is still able to block their shots, though he was missing for a few months because of a broken leg.
Leon’s Twin brother: Theo

Left Wingman
Ozzy “Phantom” Charlemagne
A nepo baby and a chaotic force of nature. Ozzy has a personality as bright as the sun and isn’t scared to tell you exactly how he feels about you to your face. He’ll call you ugly to your face and say it with his whole heart. Ozzy joined the hockey team simply out of the fact he was bored and his father just so happen to be the teams main sponsor. Though he won’t admit to anyone he deemed beneath him, hockey is a distraction, to keep his mind occupied from other things in his life. He won’t admit it, but he needs these jackasses. Hockey was once his mothers favorite sport to watch but he was raised under the umbrella of never needing anything as everything was given to him, so he found his mothers liking for the game stupid…he has some regrets.
Ozzy’s deceased mother: Elizabeth

Right Wingman
Diego “Hound” Hernández
Dominic’s compadre, his brother-from-another-mother. Skipping a grade, Diego and Dominic were high school best friends that bonded over being the only Latin students at the time, also encouraged by their mothers who were best friends during that time. Diego has a charming smile with a family man’s heart and strives to help out those he considers blood or his loved ones. Diego, unlike the others, doesn’t have any deep meaning to why he joined the team, his parents owed Dominic’s parents a favor and they called it in with Diego joining the team for that last spot. Out of seeing Dominic’s family as his own, he joins.
Diego’s older brother, Miguel and their pets.

Left Defense
Mason “Halo” Fatu
A soft boy with a good heart, swore to a life with little violence in honor of his brother. Mason was one of the first members of this new crew, being traded in before Dominic even came along. Hockey was never something mason wanted to follow in but his twin brother, Malik, convinced him this would be the best choice for both of them. He stuck around the team and the season for his brother, eventually he did end up liking hockey up until his brothers passing in a car crash. Meet the Coach and Manager

Coach
Jace Calloway
Once a relentless minor-league hockey player known more for his grit than his stats, Jace never made it to the big leagues—but he turned that chip on his shoulder into fuel behind the bench. Divorced and co-parenting two sons, Jace is rough around the edges but deeply committed to his boys, even if he struggles to show it the right way. Though he's gruff and quick with a sarcastic jab, Jace treats his team like an extension of his family. Out of all his players, he has a particular soft spot for Royal, having reminded him of his younger, reckless self. Whether it's late-night calls, tough love, or quietly pulling strings to help a struggling player, Jace’s loyalty runs deep—even if he’ll never admit it out loud. Jace also has history with Dominic's father as a fellow teammate.
Jace’s sons: Jinyoung and Joon.
Not important fact but Jinyoung has a crush on Royal.
Both brothers are apart of the same fight club as Royal.

Manager.
Cassius “Cash” Vondrè
Cassius is the sharp-tongued storm behind the success of the Detroit Red Lions. As team manager, he handles contracts, press, and player drama with a glass of champagne in one hand and a dagger-sharp smirk in the other. The two have years of bad blood, made worse by the fact that Cassius has stolen not one, but two of her boyfriends over the years. It’s personal, it’s petty, and he loves every second of it. Off the clock, Cash is a fiercely devoted father to his two adopted daughters, both rising stars in the modeling world. He raised them with the same fire he brings to the rink—bold, fearless, and unapologetically themselves. To the outside world, Cash Vondrè is a spectacle. But to the Red Lions, he’s the mastermind who always gets the deal done.

The History of the Red Lions.
The Detroit Red Lions were founded in 1968 by former hockey player Eleanor "Ellie" Calloway with her brother, Victor Calloway, an ambitious businessman with a vision for a powerhouse team. Originally competing under the Michigan Monarch name, the franchise faced a legal battle over branding rights in 1971, forcing them to rebrand as the Detroit Red Lions. Dominic’s father joined the team in 1980 and steadily become a hockey legend, later becoming the main sponsor of the team and easily getting a place for Dominic later. When Dominic joined, Mason and Leon was already apart of the team, having being scouted some time after the loss of his brother and has a few years of experience under his belt than Dominic and Leon being the teams mascot before becoming the teams goalie. Royal would be the fourth one to Join out of demands from his father then lastly, Diego, simply out of a request from Dominic’s parents, calling in a favor.
Canon Relationships
Diego Hernández and Dominic Rivera.Brothers from another mother. Compadres. Their mother's met earlier when they were both in highschool school and were encouraged to be friends, both being the only Latin students. At the time, it was the only thing they had in common and spoke to each only in school until eventually, they did grow up to like each other and see each other as brothers, despite not by blood. Dominic moved temporarily after Diego's graduation but eventually returned. Because Diego was basically family, he was instantly placed on the team as a favor called from Daniella.
Mason Fatu and Royal Malone.A one sided crush. Mason has a crush on Royal, one that he is is rarely subtle about. Those who know about it often questions why and how Mason could have feelings for a man like royal, frankly he is embarrassed to tell his reasons. Royal doesn't know about Mason's feelings and often sees Mason's attempts to get close to him as him just being friendly because they're teammates. Never once does Royal think or sees that Mason cares for him emotionally.Royal holds no romantic feelings towards Mason, if anything, he sees him as weak, lacking a backbone and too sheltered.
Dominic Rivera and Royal Malone. To the shock of many, Royal is actually Dominic's right hand man. At the beginning, they hated each other, Royal never took Dominic seriously and often ridiculed Dominic whenever he made a bad play. One day, however, Dominic had enough, resulting in him knocking Royal down a peg. Royal has secretly respected Dominic after that and acts as somewhat of a Knight to Dominic, being the fight someone has to go through if they wanted to get to Dominic. Something of a "I'm the only one that can knock him down" mentality. Rumor has it that Royal may have developed/has a crush on Dominic ever since that day but no one knows for sure.
Mini Info and Fun Facts
Dominic Rivera
Age: 27
Ethnicity: Ghanaian-Dominican
Sexuality: Bisexual
Dominic was, in a way, gifted this team by his father. Dominic got his role as captain because of the connections his father had with the team, in addition to being one of the primary sponsors that kept it running. Dominic, admittedly, never had hobbies chosen by himself but rather his parents decided all the activities he could and couldn't do so he could become successful. If you had asked him, Hockey wasn't on his To-do list. Since the day he could speak, his actions, hobbies, likes and dislikes were decided by his parents. Currently, his father has him set up for an arranged marriage, one he’s only agreeing to not embarrass the partner.
-------
Kwame and Daniella Rivera. They're more like managers than parents. Dominic's life was always in their hands, regardless if he spoke up or not. Kwame was one of the original members of the Red Lions when they were the monarchs, he's gotten some close connections, giving him an advantage over many to land Dominic that role as captain. Kwame and Daniella met when Kwame was a struggling man that just came from Ghana, at first he worked for Daniella but she grew somewhat fond of him and they found themselves together. Daniella was different. She was left with money that would keep her from working for years and used that to her advantage to help Kwame get up in life. Kwame owes her so much that he lets her do what you wants, whenever she wants, even going as far as taking her last name when they got married. As Romantic as it sounds, their relationship is far from that.
Royal Ryu-Malone
Age: 27
Ethnicity: African-Korean
Sexuality: Pansexual
Royal’s personality is mostly thanks to his mother, Nari. His parents’s divorce led to Royal being bounced between homes, he rebelled heavily against his mother, even running away from home on occasion until he was in his father, Adami,’s full custody. Royal chose a rebellious paths, getting into fights, giving half efforts in school until he found a ‘talent’ in underground and cage fighting, which led him getting caught by the police a few times. Hockey was the last thing on his mind but out of demand from his father, he applied half-assed for the position and got the part. Amongst the fans, Royal is canonically the second most beautiful of the team, much to his annoyance. Though the first is Mason.
———-
Adami and Nari Malone, Royal’s divorced parents. Adami and Nari met when Adami was temporarily in korea during the war, being a military nurse at the time, Nari was his translator and guide. Nari and Adami started a relationship during his stay there until he successfully finished his duties, at that point they’ve been together for 4 years and Nari was pregnant with Royal. Once Royal was born, they moved to America and that’s when Nari changed. Nari became emotionally and physically abusive to Adami, resulting in them divorcing when Royal was 15. At first, it was split custody, but Royal started to rebel against his mother, running away from home and arguing with her. It eventually lead to Adami having full custody where, he was still bad, but getting better. It was Adami that convinced Royal to join the red lions.

His mother, Esmeralda would meet Daniella, Dominic’s mother and eventually become best friends. Their mothers pushed for them to become friends when the two were in high school and Daniella started to fund Diego’s education and the restaurants business. Diego and Dominic bonded over being the only Latin students at the time and became brothers beyond blood. Before becoming a hockey player, Diego worked with his father at the restaurant as a waiter, he still does.

This created a close friendship between the two family that will eventually fall on Diego and Dominic, who their mothers were eager to become friends with each other. Main Rivalry
Though the Lion’s have many rival teams, none of them are more of a pain in the side than the Brooklyn Black Diamonds. When the Detroit Red Lions went by The Michigan Monarchs, the founders of both teams had a falling out that bled into the teams, starting the rivalry. However, with the current captains/centers, the hatred has gotten a new meaning.Roman Mailo and Dominic Rivera, the respective captains of their teams, absolutely hate each other for reasons beyond the rink. Their reasons are personal and only they can provide their reasons.
